Deciding on a Career Path Today

December 26th, 2011

As the world becomes more populated and technological developments make it seem smaller, we are all brought together on a new level of consciousness as well as social structures. In addition, the amount of competition that exists in various fields continues to increase at great rates and shows no signs of slowing down. This can be a daunting outlook for young people as they struggle with the normal issues of personal development and early education needs. What it also means is that the competition is beginning at much earlier ages, and certain fields demand excellence and signs of high potential at early ages.

In addition, various fields are growing in career opportunities , while some are decreasing an many are on the verge of extinction. One of the safest bets for the future is a career in medicine. Others include various additional science oriented paths, such as mathematics and engineering. Both of these are quite demanding, though they are also very broad in scope and potential. One thing is certain, and this is the fact that technology has changed our world greatly in the last twenty years and it seems as though the next twenty will make the previous pale in comparison. This can be confusing for all of us struggling to keep up, not to mention those youngsters and adolescents who are trying to decide on a career path, never minding what they’ll face as they navigate through their future. And if you or your child are/is thinking of pursing one of these fields, there are some great resources and early development tools, to help you along the way. Engineering games are available as software and online and they go a great way to develop strong skills, comprehension, and even family bonding when played at home.

Providing yourself, or your children with every available resource is essential in today’s competitive workforce. In fact, this is true now more so than ever before, and in addition to choosing the right career for your personal interest and satisfaction, you must also plan for the life expectancy of such profession and field. This is not exactly a new development, though the amount of change that exists now is a world away from what it was even a generation ago. Historically, the chances that your chosen profession would become extinct during one’s career was almost non-existent. Today, however, it’s just as important to determine the life expectancy of a particular field or specialty will remain with you through life, is a questionable prospect. And the youth today has much more to consider than we ever do in deciding on a profession. One thing is certain, those math puzzles and developing early study habits will come in handy, regardless of career choice.

Coenzyme Q10 was originally discovered by Professor Fredrick L. Crane in 1957. It wasn’t until 1972 that Gian Paolo Littarru and Karl Folkers discovered that deficiency of Coenzyme Q10 may be related to heart disease.

Coenzyme Q10 is contained in many foods with various levels of concentration. Some of the highest concentrations can be found in soybean oil, olive oil, pork/beef/chicken heart as well as liver. Cooking by frying can reduce the levels of Coenzyme Q10 in certain foods by as much as 32%. That’s why some experts suggest taking a supplement instead. Heart supplements like Coenzyme Q10 are available online from retailers who choose the very best natural ingredients.

Have you taken heart supplements before? Tell us about your experiences with them in the comments below.

Designing the Highways of NYC

November 27th, 2011

Robert Moses was one of the principal designers of New York City during the 20th century.  He was involved in many large scale projects including the West Side Highway, the Triborough Bridge, and the Verrazano Narrows Bridge.  He helped shape the city and in the process many run down neighborhoods disappeared.  Whether that was for the good or the bad is up for debate.  Certainly the city changed in many ways under his hands.  Many parks, bridges and playgrounds are a result of his influence.

Moses saw the new New York as a major influence on the rest of the country.  His particular focus was on highways, open parks, and tower blocks and his vision was of a city built for the automobile.  He built many highways through existing neighborhoods to the detriment of local communities.  He favored the open road as opposed to sprawling sidewalks.

He looked at the big picture in relation to city planning.  Large sweeping projects as opposed to individual designs.  The whole rather than the parts.

While getting rid of many identifiable parts of the city – his legacy is that he developed the infrastructure for the city we know today.  He used his power that he obtained from employment in some of the top government jobs in the city to develop his dream.

The Benefits of Online Education

November 14th, 2011

Every modernized business needs IT personnel to implement, maintain, analyze and disseminate information. Having an IT degree not only increases your salary, but increases your chances for a promotion. You will be involved with business process automation, productivity, communications and information. Even though anyone determined enough to become an IT professional can succeed, if you are detailed oriented and like solving problems, you possess the stereotypical characteristics of an “IT guy” and can be successful in this field.

Continuing education plays an essential role in keeping you current with technology trends, developments and industry happenings. Not staying current lets others get better jobs and projects. Management may view you as not caring about your profession. Many colleges and universities offer online education as a way to further IT continuing educational requirements. Many offer virtual classrooms complete with online curriculums, chat capabilities and exams.

Challenges exist for pursuing continuing education after high school, however. You more than likely will be balancing a job, family and social life. Pursuing an online education can help in all these areas. Online education allows greater flexibility in completing assignments. You decide when you will do the homework needed to take a quiz or exam. Education can be done during convenient hours in the comfort of your home. You can take breaks when you want to instead of when the instructor tells you to.

Another convenience factor involves weather. When traditional classes are canceled due to inclement weather, schedule changes occur. You won’t worry about this while studying online.

In addition to the convenience, pursuing an online education will save you money. Instead of having to drive to your local college and pay for parking, gas and maintenance on your car, you can save that money to help your family budget. You can save money on laundry and clothing by wearing what you want to while studying.

Tuition is another benefit of pursuing an online education. An online education usually costs significantly less than the traditional-style education.

In addition to tuition savings, you will save money on textbooks and class materials. Most online education classes and programs offer the ability to download lectures, notes, assignments and other needed materials.

Online degrees are increasing in popularity due to cost savings and convenience factors. Studying online can help balance your life between your daily obligations and education, making you a happier and more productive person.

A Mortgage for your Design Studio

October 17th, 2011

Applying for a mortgage loan can be stressful.  For most of us a design studio is the biggest purchase we will ever make.  There is lots of paperwork to be collected and forms to fill out.  Then there’s the additional stress of waiting to hear if your loan has been approved.

When you submit your mortgage loan application and the associated paperwork relating to your finances it will take a period of time for the lending company to review it.  The reason for the time lag is that they are closely reviewing your financial history and making sure that everything appears in order.  The application will be submitted by the lender to an underwriter.  They will have the final word on whether the loan is approved or not.  They will also look at the property to assess whether it will keep it’s value.

Often during this stage you will be asked for more information relating to your financial history.  This is quite common especially as lending institutions these days are much stricter about giving out loans.  Its also a good sign as they are looking to approve you!  You should receive a good faith estimate within three days.

The underwriter will often enter some conditions that have to be cleared up before the loan is given.  It is important that you treat the conditions with the utmost haste as it can really slow down the loan process.  They often look for proof of where your money came from, letters verifying employment, your employment history – there are many additional items that they may look at.

This may involve things like a Verification of Employment, a statement from your bank that the funds on your bank statement are still in the bank or proof of where those funds came from.  So be prepared to submit much more paperwork than originally advises.

Changing Job Market and Careers in Graphic Design

September 12th, 2011

While the job market continues to be unstable, it can also be somewhat troubling for college students, and those about to enter college, to know that career fields are constantly changing. There are different elements that go into choosing your career and one of them is personal interest and areas of talent. Meanwhile, another very important and practical aspect of career choice relates to job placement possibilities as well as long term stability in the field.

Graphic design is one of a few fields that has always attracted many talented people. It has also drawn the interest of creative minded individuals, though many people assume you must have a natural talent to succeed. It has a definite appeal to a variety of demographics, and the changing dynamics of the workforce has actually drawn in what might have been tentatively interested people in the past. And as technology changes the face of today’s, as well as the future of the workforce, careers in graphic design continue to increase and become ever broaden in spectrum. It is one area that technology is enhancing, and this is an attractive career-seeking factor. In fact, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics has been quoted as indicating an expected growth increase of thirteen percent in the field between the years of 2008 and 2018. This indicates a strong potential stable career for students who are considering entering the field.

Financial specialists, career counselors, money mutual Montel, and other professionals recommend researching the projected future of career fields in addition to the amount of expected income that can be associated with them. There are about 300 schools approved by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. Many jobs require a bachelors degree, though sometimes an associate’s degree in graphic design will qualify the student for a job. It’s important to balance the highest level of education possible with your expected job position. With this in mind, students must also weigh in the amount of education that is necessary as well as how they anticipate paying for it. Borrowing your way through school may get you your degree, though it’s a good way to keep in debt for many years. Scholarships and grants might be available, as well as working yourself through school. It’s beneficial to contact a financial counselor and check sites like money mutual.com for information on loans and financial advice. Education and quality career planning is extremely important and taking on new meanings as the changing world of technology also changes our world.

Why the Right Domain Name is Important for your Business

September 11th, 2011

Generally, a company’s name has the greatest influence on the amount of business it will attract. It’s amazing how a name says a lot about your business and this really needs to be considered when choosing a domain name as well. At one time, domain names were so expensive, only companies wanting to protect a particular brand used them. As the use of technology has skyrocketed, so has the use of domain names causing a decrease in the prices. Because of the easy affordability, it’s hard to take a company seriously that does not have a domain name.

Obviously, the domain name helps to describe what the company is about. When you are trying to decide what name to go with, choose a name that not only describes the product or company, but also one that is easy to remember and easy to spell. A name that makes it easy for search engines to locate the website, especially if the name is misspelled, works best. Always think about keywords and popular search terms to locate the domain name. Choosing an unconventional way to spell a familiar word makes the domain name easier to remember. This is extremely helpful to those searching for a particular company or brand that sticks out from other companies and brands.

In addition to the domain name, it is important to be sure that the website visitor remembers the extension that goes along with the domain name. For example, if the domain name ends with a .org extension, it’s important to make sure something reminds the visitor of the .org extension. If the visitor forgets to add the .org and adds a .com extension with the correct domain name, the search engine ends up visiting a completely different website which defeats the purpose of having an outstanding domain name.

If the domain is used to promote a particular product, consider using a name that will appear as relevant to the search engine list results. To drive more traffic to the website, consider using a domain name that uses frequently searched terms for your industry. Most importantly, don’t become some immersed in the language you use as a marketer in your industry, use the words that your customers use. If you normally use a very high-tech term for something, see if this is what your customer uses. Chances are, unless you offer a very high tech product or service, your customers may be describing what your company has to offer in different more laymen’s terms. At the same time, be sure to be specific. For example, if the website sells women shoes, choose a name that describes a particular shoe such as highheelshoes.com rather than womenshoes.com. If trying to promote a particular product consider a name such as weightlossbyfasting.com instead of weightlossproducts.com. Since the weight loss industry is one that has a lot of competition, it’s important to search all supplement domains available in order to choose the right one.

Forza Motorsport 4 shown off at E3 2011

June 15th, 2011

Turn 10 Studios’ Forza Motorsport 4 was demoed for eager members of the press and game community last week at E3 2011. The E3 2011 trailer, which is all in-game footage, shows off more of how players can virtually explore every aspect of the cars featured in the game called Auto Vista. The trailer states that the game will have over eighty car manufactures; however, a full car list, which many fans were finally waiting to hear about, has still not been announced yet. Forza 4’s head tracking feature was officially unveiled too, which will allow players to look to the left or right in the car just by turning their head.

Forza has always been detailed and real, but Turn 10 Studios might want to put disclaimer that reads “that this game shouldn’t be used as guide for automotive repair.” Although you might be tempted because of its good looks if your planning on changing your Holley carburetor you might want to just stick to reading a manual. Forza 4 features 16 player online competitive multiplayer, community car clubs, a world tour, and something called Rivals Mode. Rivals mode, is most likely Forza 4’s equivalent to racing the “ghost” cars of other top drivers. The game also features full body damage for all of the cars in the game, which can be seen clearly in the trailer by the Yellow McLaren F1 that is going to be in need of some serious auto repair. Lucky, it’s only a game. No word yet if any of the car customization can be performed in Auto Vista mode, though. Check out more the game’s Auto Vista Mode from Game Trailers in the video that shows how players can expect a car even down to the 19” aluminum alloy wheels on a 2002 Ferrari Enzo.

Rumor has it though that Microsoft’s Kinect and the size limitation of the Xbox 360’s DVD format may have reduced the number of cars featured in Forza 4. Adding the ability to virtually explore every car in the game with Kinect has most likely increased the space requirements of each car, possibility limiting the amount of cars that will be featured in the game. The DVD format used by Xbox 360 games may also be hindering the amount of cars that are included in the Forza 4. More and more games on the Xbox 360 have been running out of disk space and force to use multiple disks like Lost Odyessy, Mass Effect 2, and the recent hit, L.A. Noire. However, if Microsoft approves the large capacity DVD that they have been testing for the last couple of months then perhaps the Forza developers will be able to squeeze in a bit more cars, if space is an issue. Forza’s main competitor, Gran Turismo 4, shipped with over 1,000 cars for the Playstation 3 on November 24, 2010. Though, Gran Turismo 4 utilized Playstation 3’s high capacity Blu-Ray disk format, but also required a 6.4GB install, taking upwards of 40 minutes. A lot of Forza fans will probably be disappointed if the game does not ship with at least as many cars as Gran Turismo. 5. Although, the trailer states that there will also be monthly (epic) expansions; maybe these expansions will include new cars and courses. In any case, October 11 can’t come soon enough as millions of people are anxiously waiting for Turn 10 to kick the tires on Forza Motorsport 4.
