TransGlobe Property Management: Setting a Mind at Ease

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

I am a painter, and for so very long, just dreamed of living in a country and in a city that supported the arts and was quite frankly, entrenched in the arts.  That is when I began looking into the possibilities of a move to Canada.  I contacted a company that was recommended to me, TransGlobe Property Management. They manage many rental properties throughout Canada, and when I was trying to make my decision about just which city is was that I wanted to move to, a friend told me to give them a call.

I was amazed, for in this day and age, as hard as it is to believe, there are not many businesses around that provide anything close to customer service.  But when I called TransGlobe, the man on the phone not only informed me of my rental options in different cities, but held a conversation with me discussing the various aspects of each city.  He told me of the cities he lived in and the experiences he had traveling through the country.

He told me the best places to go for coffee, and he talked about his favorite restaurants.  And it made me think about business, and people.  A few months earlier I sat at the bank needing help with my account, and the banker was sending text messages as he was “assisting” me.  And now, this man thousands of miles away, sat for an hour and a half talking to me about life, helping me to not only find an apartment, but to find a city, through his stories and his time.

As I stated, I am a painter.  I do not make a lot of money, and while I was looking for a great apartment, I was also looking for a cheap apartment.  TransGlobe Property Management was not going to make a lot of money from me renting from them.   But that did not matter to the man on the phone.  And I seem to think now, that it does not matter to them as a company.  It is the people who matter at TransGlobe.  Not only did I find a city and an apartment, but I found comfort in this move to a new and strange place.  That would not have been possible without the help of the staff at TransGlobe Property Management.

Matsuo Sushi in Singapore

Monday, December 28th, 2009

Sushi is a genre of seafood that is a favorite meal and even snack or appetizer for many people across the world. Most sushi lovers have not only their favorite individual item but also their absolute favorite sushi restaurant. There are also those individuals who claim that it is impossible to find good sushi outside of Japan. However, there are just as many or more arguments coming from cities that say theirs is the best. One thing about Singapore is that it is well known you can find delicious cuisine from around the world on this island nation and the sushi in Singapore is one of the great options.

Matsuo Restaurant in one of the most popular and well loved Japanese restaurants in Singapore. It is known for its great sushi among other dishes, though many of the local sushi lovers insist that this is the best. The restaurant itself is very small and only seats approximately thirty people. The sushi bar is always crowded and if you plan on having dinner at this establishment it is strongly advised to either get there at an off hour, that is if there is one, or make reservations in advance.

One of the standard features that many people consider to be representative of great sushi restaurants is the amount of Japanese patrons the restaurant receives. Of course it is extremely popular with people from all over the world including local citizens as well as tourists who are either lucky enough to stumble into it, or are guided there by someone who is already familiar with it. One of the popular menu items is the Matsuzushi Bento, which is recognized as not only great food but also well worth the price. There are also platters that serve various options and one of these is a great way to go if you’re just experimenting with sushi or are eager to explore some fabulous new cuisine.

Swiftrank Optimization and Systems Theory

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

Network theory is one of the more inclusive developments of recent years, and although it seems to have erupted out of a need to address a sudden technology, there is more to it.  It aligns so nicely with other structural theories of the 20th century, that we do need to ask if it had not been predicted by these same theories.  In terms of how our thoughts move, as well as the speed of an impulse, we seem to have created the very thing we were speaking of theoretically only a generation ago.  Some of the loftier ideas get swept under the rug, however, when we are looking for swift rank optimization  for our own domains, but it’s certainly understandable.

It the current realm or regime, the domain is that one component that speaks most clearly to a notion of private property, and it’s become so enmeshed with notions of identity, that it is exactly as the Frankfurt School bad boys had predicted.  And perhaps delightfully so, for, if it were not for the domain, it would still be necessary to invent it.  Our inventions have become much faster and harder to detect, and they seem to work under cover of night as well as under the cover of day, and arbitrary time lines seem to keep moving in increasingly fuzzy directions.  Under increased scrutiny, we are finding ourselves in that position again, where we were only following orders.

In the century after everything changed, there is more attention paid to the minutia than ever before, because it is simply too paralyzing to look at the crossroads we have been inhabiting for well over a generation.  This is not out of a need to move forward so that we don’t have to pay attention to the small details.  Interestingly, and arguably for the very first time, it is not the details, but the larger picture that is being erased under the current system.  We are walking the highway of SEO, understanding that we will soon be driving at the speed of light.  The very road itself is swept under the proverbial rug until that moment when we wake up to find ourselves driving through our own living rooms, and wondering why there are so many people still awake.

The Centuries of Sorrento

Monday, December 21st, 2009

In Sorrento, Italy, one can see centuries pass simply by walking down a street; turn a corner, and you’re in the 11th Century; turn another, you’re in the 14th, 15th, and 18th Century.  Every lane and corner offers examples from the past, side by side, providing a glimpse into crafts practiced centuries ago; the town is particularly famous for marquetry and wood inlays.  After you check into one of the hotels Sorrento offers its visitors, stop at the Museo Bottega della Tarsia Lignea on Via San Nicola 28, and take a look at examples of maraquetry furniture from the 19th Century; take another look, and you’ll find yourself suddenly in the 18th Century: artful frescoes adorn the Palazzo Pomaranci Santomasi, which contains the museum, and dates back to the 1700s.

Nearby, you’ll find the Piazzetta Padre Reginaldo Giuloiani where you’ll find yourself in the 15th Century.    The palazzo Sedile Dominova dates from the 1400s; nearby, is the Basilica di Sant’Antonino, on the Piazza Sant’Antonino, where we dip all the way back to the 11th Century; the church was built in this time period over an even older oratory.  The inside of the church still keeps some of the decorations from the 1400s.

Closer to the promenade by the sea, you’ll happen upon the 18th Century and the church of San Francesco; this church is itself tucked inside a 14th century building, a cloister that’s famous now for its series of concerts.

Sorrento, this small town in Southern Italy, with its 16,500 citizens, is a popular destination, close both to Pompeii and Naples, overlooking the Bay of Naples, and lying at the base of Mt. Vesuvius.  It is an excellent escape from the 21st Century, hundreds of years represented by architecture and art, centuries wrapped inside centuries, spiraling all the way back to the Middle Ages.

Setting Goals

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

We all know how important it is to have goals.  They help us to make long-term plans and predictions, and also give us a good map of where we are, and we are going.  Even the most focused among us, however, have tendencies to forget about the basic necessity for setting goals on a regular basis.  It’s something that we learn in school, and only occasionally get refreshment at corporate training sessions, when we get reminded as a group about the importance of goals.  It’s also perfectly natural that, after learning about goals for so long, we tend to think we understand the concept.  We have ideas running through our minds all the time about our goals, our immediate goals and the bigger pictures, and use these as a kind of internal rudder through the world.

However, when these are only thoughts and ideas, and not actually set to writing, they are much more elusive than we tend to imagine.  They are subject to change from moment to moment, because it’s in our instincts to be constantly examining and evaluating a situation in front of us, whether it’s an immediate situation that needs attention, or simply life as it is.  Without formal goals that we can keep referring to, our inner sense of direction is subject to enormous shifts, and it’s very common to find ourselves pursuing things without even remembering why.

This is why refreshing our notion of how goals work is such an eye opening experience.  In leadership training, it’s something we learn so that we can pass it along to our team, but it’s also something that reminds us of how things can work more effectively.  It’s a model that works not only in the business sector, but can be enormously effective in daily living.  Setting goals for the day, the week, the month, up to the next five years, is a wonderfully simple way to move things from imagination to manifestation.  Goals give us a sense of who we are at any given moment, in relationship to where we’re going, and where we want to go.  And sometimes, it’s extremely exciting to realize that the goals have shifted, and with awareness, we can pinpoint exactly why, and this enables us to move forward with purpose.

Hot Tubs and Corner Grocers

Monday, December 14th, 2009

My grandfather had a grocery store in the same neighborhood that I’m living in, the place where I’m raising a son myself.  I might be a rare thing these days, being one who didn’t move around a lot like so many of my schoolmates have, and have happily settled in the same place I was born.  I like the continuity of it, because it gives me a sense of place here that my immigrant grandparents only dreamed about.  To think I might be living their dream can be a very humbling experience, so on my best days I try to do the kinds of things that would make them proud.

I’m not a stranger in the world I live in.  I like and appreciate all the new technologies we have these days, and some of the things in this world tell me that things are better than they used to be.  I have things that my parents passed down to me, as well as some modern conveniences, things like my hot tub.  It’s one of my favorite possessions, because it gives me a place to relax and spend time with my family in the summer, and sometimes even in the colder months.  My own online experience was terrific, and the people at choosehottubsdirect.com had a business ethic that I could really relate to.

I have some memories about my grandfather’s grocery, and how he would help out people in the neighborhood when times were tough.  Sometimes he would even go into debt himself in order to lend a needy family much-needed food on the table.  But what I liked most was seeing how he related to the customers.  He never tried to get them to buy things they wanted, only what they needed.  That was the same thing I sensed when I was looking for the hot tub, that the salespeople were there to help me figure out which set up would work best.  It gives me a great sense of warmth to know there are still people like that in the world, and tells me we can move forward with the new technology at our disposal, and still carry through with the ideas that worked so well in the past.

Clubs and Beach Activities on Ibiza

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

Last summer Wendy decided to go with her friends on a vacation. They had all decided that they wanted to spend some time in the Balearic Island of Ibiza and Wendy was very interested in doing that. She had heard about incredible beaches and amazing views as well as some of the best seafood she could hope to enjoy. Wendy loved shrimp and she had a habit of rating the places she visited on a scale of how good she found the shrimp to be. They friends made their plans and reserved four nights’ stay in one of the hotels Ibiza and they were all incredibly excited to go.

On their first night on the island they all decided they wanted to check out some of the incredible clubs they had heard Ibiza was famous for. They were staying in Ibiza Town and knew it had some of the greatest island clubs in it. They had an amazing time and started out with the happy hour provided by their resort. They realized that most of the hotels had a nice club included on the property and thought this was a good sign. From their they headed to the Zoo Bar where their were tons of people. They danced most of the night though Wendy wanted to get back early so they could go sight seeing the next morning. She seemed to be the only one interested in this idea at the time, however and the friends decided to head on to another club before heading back to the hotel.

The next morning Wendy was up early and wanted to wake up her friends. She let them sleep in though she was going to have to insist that hey don’t stay out as late that night or they would never get to tour the island. She also wanted to take a ferry to the neighboring island of Formentera, which she had heard had some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Speaking of beaches, Wendy wrote a quick note telling her friends to meet her down by the beach when they woke up. Wendy went down and found a place where she could get in on some scuba diving lessons. She decided to do this and two hours later she was cruising comfortably through the water when she came up and noticed her friends were just arriving to the beach.

Greatest Gift of Fire

Monday, December 7th, 2009

How to harness and utilize the greatest gift of fire. Start looking for the wood stove for sale adds in your local paper or favorite online market. As you start your research you see there are so many interchangeable ways of using stove and oven. It all depends on where you are in the world. In Britain stove still the world used for a wood or coal burning room heating device. In America it is come to see the cooking appliance called a stove. I hope there aren’t to many people using a wood burning cooking stove. Maybe in some deep mountain home somewhere you could find one but it more than likely is just a potter in the garden for the look and nostalgia.

We have come a long way from crouching over an open flame for warmth or heat. At some point in the middle ages the waist high version of a stove was created. It was just made of brick and mortar and some did have chimneys. That way one could stand while using the fire for some cooking. Most of the cooking was done in a cauldron that hung over the open flame. Even though it was waist high, the flame was still on top of the stove. Under the fire was stored wood so it could dry with it’s heat. Because the open flame fires were dangerous, smoky, and inefficient man became inspired to create something better.

There have been thousands of years of developing the new styles of stoves. They are now fueled by wood, coal, gas, propane and electricity. You have your pick of so many styles to match your homes decor. So many contributors have given us now a luxurious way to enjoy the fireplaces and stoves. Less time is spent with the actual care and operation of the stove. More time is spent now with family and friends who are there to enjoy it.
